PANews reported on June 22 that according to Cointelegraph, the famous rapper Curtis James Jackson III (stage name "50 Cent") claimed that his X (formerly Twitter) account and website were hacked, causing hackers to promote a cryptocurrency and pump and dump tokens, defrauding $300 million from victims.
The hacker created a new crypto token "GUNIT" and used 50 Cent's large following (about 12.9 million followers) to attract more investors and drive up the price, then drain its value, causing the token price to plummet to $0.00016. On June 21, 50 Cent posted on Instagram to his 32.8 million followers claiming that his X account and website had been hacked, and admitted that a large amount of victims' funds had been lost from the project. "Twitter quickly locked my account. Whoever did it made $300 million in 30 minutes," 50 Cent declared, claiming that he had "nothing to do with this cryptocurrency."
