LayerZero launched its ZRO token and airdrop, but was met with backlash from the crypto community.

The protocol introduced a "Proof-of-Donation" mechanism, requiring users to donate $0.1 in USDC, USDT, or ETH per token to claim their ZRO allocation.

The donations would go to the Protocol Guild, funding Ethereum developers. The community criticized the move, calling it a "Pay to Claim" airdrop and a "tax", seeing the mandatory donation as unfair.
