[Binance Japan will use Liquid’s KYC service]

Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, has selected Japan’s Liquid to authenticate customers on its new Japanese platform. Liquid will provide Binance with its eKYC service, leveraging its AI-based image processing technology for efficient facial recognition.

"Liquid eKYC provides leading facial recognition technology, ensuring smooth identity verification and compliance with each country's legal and security regulations," said the company, which specializes in biometric images and big data analysis.

Takeshi Chino, General Manager of Binance Japan, said: “We are deeply honored to partner with Liquid and advance our Japanese platform with its strict eKYC program. Binance has always maintained a high degree of security and compliance in Japan.”

Facing increased regulatory pressure globally, Binance acquired Japan-registered Sakura Exchange Bitcoin (SEBC) in November 2022. In May 2023, Binance Japan announced that it would fully comply with local laws, and Japanese users of global exchanges can migrate to the new platform after identity verification. At the end of July, founder Changpeng Zhao announced that Binance would fully resume Japanese services on August 1 and launch 34 listed currencies.

Liquid CEO Hiroki Hasegawa said that their eKYC products have been adopted by multiple industries, and said: "We are honored to provide this critical service to Binance to ensure that they can provide services to more users safely and compliantly."
