DeFi aggregator and portfolio management tool, Zapper, has introduced the Zapper Protocol to encourage on-chain data interpretation and contextualization.

The platform also plans to issue its native token ZAP in the fourth quarter of 2024.

“Our vision for the future is on-chain understanding,” Zapper declared on X. “By making Ethereum easy to read, we are revealing to everyone what Ethereum really is. Ethereum is a social network, and we are bringing it to the surface.”

Zapper has developed indexing templates designed to simplify the on-chain data indexing process, allowing users to understand the data without the need for advanced coding skills.

Today's launch reveals the first part of the Zapper Protocol, which is the interpretation layer. Zapper said this layer will allow users to contribute in two forms: event interpreters and location interpreters. The event interpreter converts complex blockchain transaction data into an easy-to-read format, while the position interpreter adds missing positions or balances to the Zapper.

The project will reward data interpretations and enable payment for data access using the ZAP utility token.

Zapper, founded in 2020, previously raised $15 million in a Series A round led by Framework Ventures in 2021, with prominent investors including Mark Cuban and Ashton Kutcher's Sound Ventures.
