The Bureau of Labor Statistics of the US Department of Labor reported on Wednesday that the Consumer Price Index, a broad measure of the costs of goods and services, did not record any increase during the month of May on a monthly basis, but on an annual basis it recorded an increase of 3.3%. The annual and monthly increases were below expectations and below April data.
Excluding volatile food and energy prices, the core CPI slowed to a mere 0.2% month-on-month increase in May, while rising 3.4% year-on-year.
