According to a Crystal Intelligence report, there have been 785 cryptocurrency thefts since 2011, with a total loss of nearly $19 billion. This includes 220 security breaches, 345 DeFi hacks, and 220 scams. The Plus Token Ponzi scheme in 2019 was the largest theft, with a total amount of $2.9 billion involved. 2023 still set a new high for cryptocurrency thefts, with a total of 286 cases and losses of more than $2.3 billion. Ethereum has become the main target in the past two years, with a total of 131 attacks and losses of nearly $1.3 billion.
