$APE

Three suspects in a large scam involving the Evolved Apes NFT collection worth $3 million were charged with wire fraud and money laundering. We are talking about a case from 2021, when the anonymous developer of the Evolved Apes NFT collection disappeared along with investors’ money. Previously, in just a week, he and his accomplices collected more than $2.9 million on air, promising to develop a fighting game for their community. However, these plans were never destined to come true, because the development team emptied the project’s wallet, took all 798 ethers, deleted the account on the social network and closed official website.

The materials of the investigation indicate that investors saw several “red flags” in advance, which alerted them. So, after the public sale of the Evolved Apes NFT collection, the crypto community’s announcements became “unprofessional,” and later the team stopped communicating with holders altogether non-existent tokens. Three years later, the names of the scammers were revealed. The developers of the Evolved Apes NFT collection were British citizens Moxhammed-Amin Atche, Moxhammed Polaz Walid and Daud Xaccan. They were all charged with laundering “illegally appropriated funds through numerous transactions with cryptocurrencies” in order to “hide their income obtained by dishonest way."
