According to Foresight News, Bitcoin ZK Rollup protocol Citrea has been launched on Public Devnet for developers and users. Officials said that this launch marks the testing of Bitcoin as a data availability layer, making it the foundation of a dynamic financial ecosystem. The team is currently burning state differences and batches of zero-knowledge proofs into Bitcoin, and testing sequencers, provers, and full-node software. In terms of cross-chain, Public Devnet has not yet implemented Clementine or BitVM; in terms of proof, it uses proof sampling instead of proving each sequencer commitment.
Foresight News previously reported that Citrea completed a $2.7 million seed round of financing, led by Galaxy Ventures, with participation from Delphi Ventures, Taproot Wizards co-founder Eric Wall, and modular blockchain Avail co-founder Anurag Arjun.
