According to Foresight News, Ethereum's second-layer blockchain Linea said that yesterday, in response to the security vulnerability of the decentralized exchange Velocore on the network, the Linea team decided to stop block production by suspending the sorter and reviewing the attacker's address to prevent hackers from converting some of the stolen tokens into Ethereum. Linea believes that this will help protect its ecosystem.

The incident sparked comments from industry insiders, including Matter Labs CEO Alex Gluchowski, who stressed the urgency of prioritizing decentralization for Layer 2 networks. In response, Linea added that it plans to move to a decentralized model where unilateral actions by core developers will not be able to prevent blockchain blocks.
