They are all Chinese, so why are Hong Kongers and Taiwanese so different?
I took this photo in Taipei. In Hong Kong, the difference in temperament and dressing between Hong Kongers and mainlanders can be seen at a glance, but in Taiwan, it feels like there is not much difference between Taiwanese and mainlanders walking on the street, and Hong Kong is just a border crossing, while Taiwan has to cross the Taiwan Strait.
Maybe it's the difference between British and Japanese colonization in the past. Taiwan is still Asian in style, while Hong Kong is more influenced by Western culture.
Overall, people of the Min dialect get along very well, they are kind, gentle, friendly and enthusiastic. Most of Fujian, Taiwan, Chaoshan, Leizhou, Hainan, and Nanyang are Min dialect areas.
