PANews reported on May 31 that according to Cointelegraph, data tracking agency CryptoSlam showed that despite an upward trend in April 2024, blockchain-based digital collectibles slowed down in May. In the past 30 days, global sales of NFTs were US$624 million, and overall NFT sales fell 54% compared to April (when NFT sales exceeded US$1 billion).

Although Bitcoin-based NFTs ranked first with sales of more than $179 million in the past 30 days, it was down 68% from April. Meanwhile, Ethereum and Solana, the second and third blockchains in terms of sales, also showed a downward trend in May. Data shows that the sales of these two blockchains fell by 55% and 48% respectively in May.

Among the top 10 NFT series, Solana-based Mad Lads and Ethereum-based series CryptoPunks and Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) are the biggest losers. BAYC has the largest sales drop on the list, down 54%. Mad Lads sales fell 44%, while CryptoPunks sales fell 41%.
