Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of $ETH , recently expressed his condolences on the X social media platform over the passing of Kabosu, the legendary Shiba Inu dog that inspired the creation of Dogecoin (DOGE). By doing so, Buterin once again demonstrated his support and respect for the Dogecoin community.
In his tweet, Buterin wrote "Rest in peace Kabochan" in response to a post by Kabosu's owner, Atsuko Sato (@kabosumama), announcing the dog's death at the age of 19. Kabosu's photos went viral on the internet in 2010, and in 2013, her image as the "Doge" meme inspired Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer to create the first meme cryptocurrency, Dogecoin. Kabosu became the DOGE mascot and gained even more popularity as the Dogecoin community grew.
Buterin's gesture of paying tribute to Kabosu was well-received by the crypto community, with many leading figures, including Elon Musk and the official Dogecoin account, also expressing their condolences and sharing the grief of the $DOGE community.
