Elon Musk Pays Tribute to the Dogecoin Mascot: DOGE Soars +4%
The Dogecoin cryptomeme recovered last day as followers of the cryptomeme mourned the loss of Kabosu, the puppy that inspired the meme coin.
Dogecoin skyrocketed to 0.17 following the news of Kabosu's passing and Musk's tweet.
Kabosu, who passed away at the age of 19 on Friday, inspired countless memes and meme cryptocurrencies, including Dogecoin (DOGE), Shibu Inu (SHIB), Dogwifhat (WIF), and Bonk (BONK).
Launched in December 2013, Dogecoin remains the number one meme cryptocurrency with a market capitalization of $24.3 billion. In March, the price of Dogecoin skyrocketed when Musk suggested that Tesla could allow customers to buy its electric cars with the meme cryptocurrency.Â
