Golden Finance reported that a recent study showed that Canadians' enthusiasm for cryptocurrency investment has declined compared to the previous year. In addition, they are now less willing to consider cryptocurrency as an important factor in the current economy or predict its future importance. The survey covered 2,360 Canadians, representing different proportions of the population in terms of gender, age and region, revealing the country's widespread skepticism about cryptocurrencies.
Cryptocurrency ownership among Canadians has declined over the past year, from 13% in 2022 to 10% in 2023. Demographically, the majority of these crypto owners are likely to be males aged 25-44, have an undergraduate degree or higher, and work full-time.
In both 2023 and 2022, the main reason for buying cryptocurrencies was their usefulness as speculative investments or gambling. However, the number of cryptocurrency owners who purchased digital assets as long-term investments has dropped from 29% in 2022 to 20% in 2023.
