Former FTX executive Ryan Salame is allegedly involved in multiple billion-dollar crashes, and federal prosecutors are seeking a prison sentence of five to seven years for Salame. But his defense team says Salame should reflect on his role in exposing the fraud and is asking for a lenient sentence of no more than 18 months.

Salame's defense attorneys emphasized his cooperation with authorities and his efforts to expose potential fraud. Since Salame pleaded guilty in September, he has reportedly begun raising his first child with long-term partner Michelle Bond and seeking substance abuse treatment.

Salame's prison sentence will be given on May 28. He will be the first member of FTX co-founder Sam Bankman-Fried's inner circle to face justice for his role in the crypto exchange's collapse. Bankman-Fried himself was sentenced to 25 years in prison in March, a result he is currently appealing.

Salame's legal journey began in 2019 when he joined FTX's sister hedge fund Alameda Research after meeting Bankman-Fried at a blockchain conference. In 2021, Salame moved to the Bahamas and became CEO of FTX's Bahamian subsidiary.
