Solana was created by Anatoly Yakovenko, a software engineer and former Qualcomm engineer. Yakovenko founded Solana Labs in 2020, the company behind the development of the Solana blockchain. The Solana network was launched in March 2020 with the goal of addressing the scalability issues faced by some other blockchains, such as Bitcoin and Ethereum.
Solana is known for its speed, processing up to 65,000 transactions per second. Additionally, its blockchain uses a unique consensus mechanism called Proof of History, which helps improve efficiency and reduces transaction costs.
