History
POAP was first presented in 2019 at the Ethereum conference in Denver. As part of the event, each participant was given a digital commemorative badge to prove their presence. After which, many cryptocurrency projects also began to use POAP NFTs to effectively communicate with their audience and reward them with privileges.
Initially they were released on Ethereum, but in October 2020, POAPs migrated to the Ethereum sidechain - xDai. The changes have increased the speed of digital badge transactions and also reduced transaction costs.
Application
The range of applications for POAP is wide: from collecting to participation in VIP events. Many people use POAP to demonstrate their expertise.
