ChainML, a base layer for training AI agents has completed a $6.2 million extended seed round led by Hack VC. The fundraising also attracted participation from Foresight Ventures, Inception Capital, HTX Ventures, Figment Capital, Hypersphere Ventures and Alumni Ventures.
The fundraising was executed via a simple agreement for future equity with token warrants, The Block reported. It also comes following the company’s $4 million seed round announced in September 2022.
ChainML has also unveiled Theoric, a framework used by Web3 startups to deploy autonomous AI agents for their communities.
Co-founded by the former technical director of applied artificial intelligence at Google Ron Bodkin, ChainML seeks to decentralise AI access with blockchain technology. Theoric is leveraging the blockchain to enable agent registration, payment and security.
“We believe that our agentic base layer is going to be the point of value creation in web3 moving forward, enabling intuitive access to web3 value drivers from DeFi, infra and restaking to meme coins. We are partnering with resource providers in DePIN compute, inference and data,” ChainML co-founder and CEO Bodkin said.
Bodkin said his company is already partnering with “established web3 projects”, which will be unveiled at the Consensus 2024 event.
According to Bodkin, the AI models that the Web3 projects will be able to deploy or their communities pull data from multiple input sources, including “social media, community feedback and on-chain data,” enabling them to perform complex tasks for the web3 community ranging from “reading documentation and sentiment analysis to sophisticated investment planning.”
ChainML is targeting to launch Theoric this summer ahead of a mainnet release later this year. The company plans to use the new capital to expand its engineering and research teams and build a new team dedicated to the go-to-market campaign.
