Recently, two big whale addresses worth $61 million, equivalent to 1,000 Bitcoins, suddenly moved after 10 years and transferred all the tokens.
According to Blockchain.com data, the wallet address "16vRq...qjzEa" transferred 500 Bitcoins in block 843.131 at 10.10 on May 12, while the other 500 Bitcoins were sent two blocks later by the address "1DUJuH...NgfC5".
According to CoinGecko, at Bitcoin's price of $134 on September 12 and September 13, 2013, both wallets received 500 Bitcoins.
At current prices, the total amount transferred is $61.2 million, equivalent to 456 times the purchase price.
Since the transfers, one of the recipient addresses "16vRq...qjzEa" has transferred 500 Bitcoins to multiple wallets, while the recipient "1DUJuH...NgfC5" still holds 500 Bitcoins.
Blockchain analysis firm Lookonchain linked the two transactions, and experts believe the two wallets belong to the same person or organization.
Before the transfers, these two addresses were among the 4,353 largest Bitcoin whales, according to BitInfoCharts.
Less than a week ago, a Bitcoin wallet from the Satoshi Nakamoto era transferred 687 Bitcoins worth $43.9 million to two separate addresses.
According to a recent analysis by Chainalysis and Fortune, at least one of the old giant Bitcoin wallets tends to wake up every month, but approximately 1.8 million Bitcoin addresses have been dormant for more than a decade.
