Bitcoin Aggregation
The evolving Bitcoin ecosystem, driven by new layer 2 solutions, has introduced fragmentation and interoperability challenges that cause user friction. Meanwhile, dApp developers continue to encounter rollup deployment challenges.
Ushering in the next era
To effectively scale Bitcoin, Side Protocol takes a modular approach, introducing an optimized settlement layer to unlock programmability and scalability for a Bitcoin-centric rollup ecosystem.
Stage (currently S2)
S2
S2 will feature the first incentivized testnet, designed to thoroughly stress-test the network and applications and prepare the SIDE chain for the genesis event.
A points system will also be implemented to monitor user participation and contributions. These points will serve as criteria for future airdrop eligibility. Users will need to obtain an "Insider" role in our Discord community to participate in incentive activities.
S3 and SIDE Chain V1 mainnet launched
S3 will mark the launch of the SIDE Chain V1 mainnet, with a token generation event including a large-scale token distribution. V1 strategically prioritizes development and interaction, making SIDE Chain a Bitcoin sidechain and supporting features such as Bitcoin Connect and Bitcoin Stake.
S4, the modular stack mainnet launch
After launching the V1 mainnet in S3, Side Protocol remains committed to its vision of becoming the settlement layer in the Bitcoin modular stack. This journey will go through subsequent phases, namely S4 and S5. In S4, SIDE Chain V2 will be introduced, introducing new components to integrate the mainnet modular stack with Side Protocol.
Initially, SIDE Chain V2 will enable trust-minimized BTC bridges and permissioned rollup deployments. Funding will be extended to teams building specific application areas within the ecosystem (e.g. AI, dePIN, trading, NFT, gaming, social platforms, etc.).
S5
With the introduction of V2 to the SIDE chain, S5 will facilitate the permissionless deployment of Rollups and expand integration with other decentralized application (DA) options. The integration of decentralized sorters will enhance the decentralization of the network. In addition, by integrating zk-IBC solutions currently built by other teams, interoperability with other ecosystems will be strengthened, thereby achieving a trust-minimized bridge between the Bitcoin modular ecosystem and other crypto ecosystems.
