The Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) has issued a warning against a company called Quantum AI, accused of fraudulent activities related to virtual assets and allegedly impersonating Elon Musk. Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) issued a warning about Quantum AI on May 8 for disseminating "false and misleading information." The commission stated that this deceptive strategy was aimed at promoting crypto trading services and gaining credibility among investors in Hong Kong.
In the warning published on the SFC's website, it was noted that Quantum AI's "news" site claimed that Hong Kong people could achieve "too good to be true" returns when trading crypto.
In response to these allegations, the Hong Kong Police Force shut down Quantum AI's website and removed relevant social media pages, at the request of the SFC. However, authorities warn the public that scammers may try to bypass regulatory action by creating new websites and social media pages with similar domain names.
Therefore, investors are advised to be careful and conduct a thorough review before starting any service related to virtual assets.
Hong Kong SFC also issued a similar warning about the fake crypto exchange called MEXC. It was stated that this organization attracted victims through social media and messaging groups, offered free investment advice and encouraged crypto purchases on its websites. SFC had added fake MEXC to its alert list, suspecting illegal virtual asset trading activities. Hong Kong police have restricted access to fake MEXC websites and are cooperating with the SFC to investigate possible cases of fraud.
