Celestia just announced an Ethereum fallback mechanism.

But does this mean?

“Blobstream” launched by @CelestiaOrg has brought the rise of Celestia rollups to the Ethereum ecosystem.

Today, teams can deploy their own Celestia x Ethereum L2 using @optimismFND’s OP Stack or @arbitrum Orbit rollup framework. In fact, RaaS like @Calderaxyz and @alt_layer are making this process seamless for developers.

In short, this “Ethereum fallback” mechanism reduces the risk of downtime for teams deploying their own Celestium.

If for some reason Celestia goes down, L2 can start publishing its data to Ethereum, "or another DA layer." Once the issue on Celestia is resolved, L2 will re-publish its data on Celestia's data publishing network.

Overall, “this mechanism ensures that users can continue to transact securely and seamlessly, prevents outages, and helps ensure that user funds are not trapped in Ethereum’s L2 bridge.”
