Techub News reported that according to CoinDesk, the U.S. Department of Justice rejected Tornado Cash developer Roman Storm's motion to drop criminal charges against him. The U.S. Department of Justice previously accused Roman Storm and other developers of conspiring to launder money, operate unlicensed currency transfer tools, and conspire to violate sanctions laws by creating and operating Tornado Cash.
Roman Storm’s lawyers argued in March that Tornado Cash is not a “mixing” tool, does not meet the definition of a financial institution, and that developers cannot prevent criminals from using the protocol. In its filing to dismiss the motion, the Justice Department said the defendant cannot dismiss the lawsuit based solely on his controversial views on how the Tornado Cash service works and his own lack of actual intent in taking certain actions.
