In a significant development for the Open Network (TON), the TON Foundation has announced the integration of messenger encryption, as stated in a recent press release. This addition enhances the security of TON’s platform and ensures the protection of personal information whenever users include a text message with a financial transaction.

The TON Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing TON among developers and fans, revealed that customers can now benefit from end-to-end encryption when communicating through TON’s messaging feature. This encryption guarantees that only the sender and the intended recipient can access the content of their conversation, strengthening the already robust security measures implemented by the platform.

To make this service widely accessible, TON has set the network charge for sending an encrypted message at a mere approximate value of 0.006 Toncoin (TON) per transaction. This affordable fee empowers users to enjoy the benefits of enhanced privacy without imposing a significant financial burden.

Anatoly Makosov, a Core developer at the TON Foundation, expressed confidence in the durability of the decentralized TON blockchain, stating, “Even in the event of an apocalypse and the failure of conventional messenger servers, you will retain the ability to send messages via the decentralized TON blockchain.” This assurance underscores the resilience and reliability of the TON network, assuaging concerns about potential disruptions in communication channels.

While TON users have always had the option to include personalized messages when sending Toncoin, Jettons, or NFTs to others, this latest encryption feature sets TON apart from the majority of other blockchains. Previously, these messages were visible to all participants of a transaction, but with TON’s end-to-end encryption, only the sender and recipient can access the message. This upgrade not only strengthens privacy but also enables users to maintain discretion and confidentiality during financial transactions.

TON’s layer-1 architecture is engineered to scale efficiently, accommodating a maximum of 2 to the power of 32 workchains. Furthermore, each workchain can be further subdivided into up to 2 to the power of 60 shardchains. With this robust infrastructure, TON demonstrates its ability to process millions of transactions per second, ensuring seamless and high-speed functionality for its users.

As the TON Foundation continues to innovate and enhance the platform’s capabilities, the integration of messenger encryption represents a significant step forward in bolstering the security and privacy of financial transactions on the TON network. With this added layer of protection, users can have peace of mind, knowing that their personal information remains safeguarded within the decentralized TON ecosystem.
