Vietnam Not Banning Cryptocurrency, Plans Legal Framework
According to Foresight News, an official from the Ministry of Justice in Vietnam has stated that cryptocurrency is not banned in the country. However, there is a need to establish a legal framework to ensure its proper development and mitigate risks. The government has directed the State Bank of Vietnam to study cryptocurrency and virtual assets to prevent their use in money laundering. The Ministry of Finance has been tasked to develop a legal framework by May 2025.
A report from the American cryptocurrency data provider, Chainanalysis, reveals that Vietnam's cryptocurrency earnings ranked third globally last year, only behind the United States and the United Kingdom. The profits reached $1.18 billion.
