Elon Musk made a statement that AI will soon surpass human intelligence

In the context of artificial intelligence being increasingly applied in life, Tesla boss Elon Musk has announced that AI will soon surpass human intelligence. He also mentioned the competition between xAI's Grok AI chatbot and OpenAI's flagship product ChatGPT.

When asked about humanity's position in the AI space today, Musk said artificial intelligence is the fastest growing technology he has seen in his lifetime.

Reminding that new AI hardware comes online every six to nine months, Musk suggested that artificial intelligence will become smarter than any human around the end of next year.

The tech mogul said the new version of Grok AI – Grok 2.0 – is currently being trained. Once the training is complete (rough estimate is May), this new Grok model “will beat” OpenAI's rival ChatGPT-4 product.

Over the weekend, news spread that using Grok deployed on App X is 60% cheaper per month than a monthly ChatGPT subscription. Grok is free and comes as part of the $8 monthly subscription fee for X Premium while ChatGPT-4 currently costs $20 per month.

Musk co-founded OpenAI in 2015, providing large financial support but then left due to disagreements about operating strategy with the company's leadership. Although the initial goal was non-profit AI research, OpenAI eventually chose to become a completely for-profit entity, entering into a strategic partnership with Microsoft last year.
