Over the past few weeks, the EOS ecosystem has continued to push the boundaries of Web3 innovation. This report will keep you updated on the latest news, including milestones like the recovery of 2 million EOS on the EOS EVM and ongoing work on the BTC L2 scaling solution. Be sure to check out the recent Everything EOS livestream if you missed it, but if you’re short on time, this report will cover the most important EOS news.

Two million EOS on EOS EVM were recovered

One of the biggest milestones for the EOS community over the past month was the recovery of 2 million EOS from the Paycash vulnerability. The recovery was made possible through the Recover+ platform, a cutting-edge cybersecurity portal and rapid incident response program unique to the EOS ecosystem.

Building on its success, R+ breaks new ground by successfully intervening in this incident involving the EOS EVM, demonstrating expanded functionality beyond EOS Native that is unprecedented in the industry. This extraordinary retrieval not only secures nearly 2 million EOS for its rightful owners, but also makes R+ the first program of its kind to extend protections to the EOS EVM project.

BTC L2 work progress

Work continues at a steady pace behind the scenes on the BTC L2 working group, tasked with building EVM-compatible scaling solutions for Bitcoin on top of the EOS network. By integrating trustless bridges and layer 0 scaling methods, this solution promises to be an innovative addition to the EOS ecosystem.

Towards the end of February, ENF CEO Yves La Rose stated that work on the whitepaper was nearing completion, while also hinting that the RAMS project may play a role in the platform. Be sure to follow him and the EOS Network Foundation on X to stay updated on this exciting project.

Antelope Leap 6 schedule announced

Also in February, the EOS engineering team announced the upcoming launch of Leap 6, scheduled to launch in July 2024. Leap 6 will introduce the groundbreaking Savanna consensus algorithm, enabling faster finalization and creating irreversible consensus transactions more than 100 times faster than previous versions. This will not only speed up the finalization of transactions, but also enhance the security, user experience, and decentralization of the entire EOS ecosystem.

Along with this announcement, a timeline for release and hard fork upgrades was also released. The recommended upgrade period for all EOS nodes is July 11-30 to ensure a seamless transition and network synchronization. The hard fork itself is scheduled for July 31st, making this a critical date for all upgrades to be completed.

EOS Technology Update

In addition to work on BTC L2 and Leap 6, the EOS engineering team continues to make progress in many other areas. Most notable is the announcement of the EOS 2024 roadmap, which includes the rollout of EOS EVM v1 and RAM Transferability, among other projects.

In addition, in early February, the EOSSphere team published an article detailing the results of performance tests conducted on Leap 5. They found that Leap 5 had lower CPU utilization, a more efficient memory footprint, and easy-to-manage lower disk IO.

Perhaps one of the most notable technology updates last month was the official completion of WharfKit by Greymass. Funded by the Antelope Alliance, this powerful SDK makes it easy for builders to develop accessible Web3 applications on EOS and other Antelope networks.

The EOS ecosystem is growing rapidly!

It’s been another epic month for the entire EOS community. The recovery of 2 million EOS on the EOS EVM, updates to BTC L2, and the upcoming Leap 6 hard fork are all reasons to look forward to what the EOS community has in store for the coming months. About the EOS Network

The EOS network is the epitome of the blockchain 3.0 era, powered by EOS VM. EOS VM is a low-latency, high-performance, and scalable WebAssembly engine that enables nearly seamless deterministic transaction execution. The EOS network is designed specifically for Web3 and is committed to enabling the best Web3 user and developer experience. EOS is the flagship blockchain and financial center of the Antelope protocol, and uses the EOS Network Foundation (ENF) as a tool for multi-chain collaboration and development of public basic products to further improve the infrastructure and drive the rapid development of EOS.

About the EOS Network Foundation

The EOS Network Foundation (ENF) was born to create a prosperous, decentralized and future for the EOS ecosystem. By encouraging the active participation of major stakeholders in the EOS ecosystem, supporting community projects, providing ecosystem funding, and supporting the construction of an open technology ecosystem, ENF is setting off a new round of Web3 changes. As the center of the EOS network and a leading open source platform, ENF was founded in 2021 and has a stable set of frameworks, tools, and blockchain deployment libraries. Together we enable innovation in community building and work to create a stronger future for all.
