The infamous figure of the crypto-currency world, Simon Bank Main Fraud, was sentenced to 25 years in prison for orchestrating the world's biggest financial fraud, with orders to seize assets worth $11 billion. Judge Lewis Kaplan handed down this sentence in a Manhattan court on Thursday. Former CEO of the crypto-currency exchange FTX, Bank Main Fraud, was convicted last year of conspiracy to commit fraud and money laundering. During the sentencing, the judge appointed a mathematics expert to understand Bank Main Fraud's deliberate actions to gain power and influence. Although Bank Main Fraud pleaded for leniency, acknowledging numerous wrong decisions, the judge stated, "Bank Main Fraud knew it was wrong, knew it was criminal." Bank Main Fraud gave multiple false testimonies during the trial. Before the court's verdict, Bank Main Fraud, their defense attorney, and the federal prosecutor gave statements. Bank Main Fraud blamed the FTX crisis on mismanagement, expressing regret, and praised former employees and executives, including co-founder Gary Wang and his former girlfriend Caroline Ellison. Bank Main Fraud claimed a desire to assist in returning funds to users but asserted they no longer hold positions of authority. Bank Main Fraud further stated, "My productive life may be over." Former CEO Ellison of FTX's trading division, Almeda Research, told the court that Bank Main Fraud instructed her to deceive and misuse FTX customer funds without their knowledge. The jury's deliberation in Bank Main Fraud's case found them guilty of all seven charges of fraud and conspiracy after just four hours of consideration, despite Bank Main Fraud's claim of innocence.
