According to ChainCatcher, Microsoft and OpenAI are planning a data center project costing up to $100 billion, according to The Information. The project is expected to include an artificial intelligence supercomputer called Stargate, scheduled to be launched in 2028. Driven by the rapid adoption of generative artificial intelligence technology, the market demand for AI data centers that can handle more advanced tasks than traditional data centers has surged.
It is understood that the budget for this project may be a hundred times the cost of the largest existing data center. The supercomputer will be the largest of a series of supercomputers that the company plans to build over the next six years.
