The regional head of the Binance exchange fled Nigeria.
Arrested in Nigeria, Binance employee Hadim Anjarwalla escaped from custody on March 22 after being taken to a nearby mosque for prayer. Anjarwalla flew from Abuja on a Middle Eastern airline. The migration service said that he left Nigeria on a Kenyan passport. The country's authorities are trying to find out how the head of Binance, who is a citizen of Great Britain, was able to get a travel ticket and get on a flight and leave the country. It was previously reported that the passports of the detainees were confiscated. Local media write that Anjarwalla and Vice President for Global Intelligence and Exchange Research Tigran Gambaryan received the opportunity to use mobile smartphones, which helped the organization lower the shoot. As is known, the Nigerian authorities have charged Anjarwalla, Gambaryan and Binance Holdings Limited with tax evasion on four counts, including provision of services without registration with the Federal Tax Service new service, and conducting crypto-currency transactions without deducting value added taxes. The exchange's leaders flew to Nigeria to begin negotiations, but were detained by the police. The detention period of Anjarvalla and Gambaryan was extended until April 4. The Nigerian government believes that Binance is to blame for the devaluation of the naira and that individuals used the exchange to launder $21.6 billion. Binance management denies the accusations against them.
