Over the past few months, I have immersed myself in the study of human behaviour among the super-wealthy. My primary focus has been understanding how their immense wealth can potentially shape their character. In the process, I came across the fascinating life stories of several billionaires, including Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, and Bill Gates. However, it was during my research that I discovered the remarkable tale of Shahram Zandy Moghadam, a humble crypto billionaire that I thought to make a journey to Dubai to meet him, after correspondent he agreed to a short interview with me. I didn't think that he would like to meet someone like me. The experience felt like a dream come true, an extraordinary moment in my life.
So in the last November 2022, I went to meet him and As planned, he kindly offered to pick me up from the Dubai International Airport. When I arrived, I caught sight of Shahram Zandy Moghadam patiently waiting for me. He warmly welcomed me and had a little chat. He is a handsome and very simple guy with a great smile! So then I got into his vehicle and surprisingly he sat in the driver's seat. I was really surprised because a person like him came to pick me up (just a normal guy) from his own vehicle without a driver ?. So I identified his behaviour and modesty for the 1 st time. He was a remarkably simple and calm person. Whenever he drove, he displayed great composure, and he always conversed with me wearing a gentle smile. He truly was a nice person. After about an hour, he dropped me off at a nearby hotel close to his residence.
To my delight, he invited me to visit his home the next day for the interview. I was extremely excited to see his house, as it was a dream come true. The following morning, I woke up early and prepared myself to meet the billionaire, Shaharam Zandy Moghadam. Upon arriving at his villa, I was pleasantly surprised to find no bodyguards, only a single servant in the entire place. It struck me how down-to-earth he was. The servant warmly welcomed me with a refreshing drink, and I patiently waited for approximately two hours to meet him, as he had a few business meetings. So after around 2 hours he came and sat near me. and without talking for more time I started the interview .... Here are the dialogues.....
ME:
So Shahram do you want to explain a bit about your background? Although I have read a few articles about you online, nothing too deep about your childhood and how you grew up.
SHAHRAM ZANDY MOGHADAM:
Well, I was born in Tehran the capital of Iran in a military family prior to the Islamic revolution. My father was a high-ranking officer in the army. At the age of 8, I had a terrible car accident and almost lost my life. I was always at the top of my school, ( laughing) although I never study hard. My family use to call me the Golden Naughty Boy. ( extremely smart for my age!) At the age of 10, my father decided to send me to England to study and stay with my uncle. In 70’s it was very tough to be in England, there were many young people groups like mods, skinheads, bikers, teddy’s and so on and they were very racist. So I had a very tough time going about my day-to-day life! So I had a lot of challenges to survive, going to school and back on my own etc… I remember even on some of the houses for rent there was a sign saying: NO BLACKS, NO IRISH & NO DOGS!! ( But today I thank the father nature to give me this experience to make me the man I am today!). Anyhow I worked and studied and always had an eye on business activities. I call myself an opportunist with golden balls( he laughs). “ if you don’t take risks you can never grow big”. So I start travelling to Europe first and stayed in Austria for a good 8 years, that’s why I speak German! I then start travelling the world from Africa to the far east, the Middle East, USA etc… but not like a tourist, I stayed months on different continents! I meet people from different nationalities and backgrounds and then one day I sat down and thought that we human beings are all the same ( obviously looking different) and we are all products of our own environment! So depending on our geographical location, the family we are born into and the friends we choose in our lives will determine a lot about our future behaviour! Again going back to my upbringing in the 70s in the Uk, I learned from bad and nasty people to be good and kind ( I don’t know if it makes sense?! Everything I disliked in my childhood I try to avoid and this is why I am what I am today. I believe strongly that life is like a mirror and how you look into it it’s going to reflect back at you! No matter how much money you have in your bank account, you can only eat 3 meals a day, you can only sleep on one bed ( even if you have a castle with 100 bedrooms)! I don’t say having wealth is bad, Opposite money can open many doors in our short life span and why not open as many doors as you can BUT money can’t buy you class and manners! Unfortunately, I see around me as there are many billionaires and super-wealthy people in Dubai, but most of them are lost in themselves and have forgotten where they really are coming from! I don’t have any bodyguards, big yachts or private jets. I love street food, especially in Asia, I love to hang around in the markets and be ordinary and not extravagant!. My mother and all my family have always been proud of me and that’s my reward in my life.
ME:
How were you introduced to Bitcoin?!
SHAHRAM ZANDY MOGHADAM:
Again it’s possibly my opportunistic nature as well as luck ( He smiles). In the year 2011, I went to the USA to visit a friend and one night we were out in a restaurant and I overheard people talking about the huge profits they made! I got involved in their conversation and ask them what kind of business they do and they said we deal in bitcoin, Bitcoin I asked, what’s bitcoin ?? They explained and cut the story short I went back to the UK and sold my house under the price and immediately bought my first bitcoins around 29 USD! Few months later I had millions of dollars! I was lucky to have good money management, so I didn’t go crazy with the whole thing. Next I entered the crypto space and was a backbencher on few big projects as an investor. I also sold and re-bought my bitcoins and most of the time I strike lucky. This is how I made my fortune. Today I’m holding on to my bitcoins and other crypto assets I have as I am certain that the prices will go to the roof by the next Bitcoin halving and the uncertainty in the financial markets due to interest rates etc… I have set to educate governments on how to fight the inflation with my cryptocurrency BITXGOLD ( BXG). Gold is a hedge against infection and having transparent digital gold backed by real gold is the way forward at these uncertain times!
AT THE END:
----Since the allocated time for the interview was over I finally thanked him for the hospitality and for giving his golden time for the interview----
Then He had a meeting and had to go for it, he organised a nice hotel for me and after 3 days I came back to my home and shared the experience with my friends and family!
In Conclusion, All I can say is if we had more Shahram in this world, then the world would be a paradise. He is now working on his project Bitxgold (gold-backed cryptocurrency) not for the money but to make other people wealthy! He will for sure leave a great legacy for his future generations to come.
