Richard Teng is the current CEO of Binance, taking over from Changpeng Zhao on November 21. His appointment followed Zhao's resignation and guilty plea in a $4.3 billion settlement with the US Department of Justice.

Teng, based in Singapore, initially joined Binance as the CEO of the city-state in August 2021. His roles expanded over time, becoming Binance’s regional head for Europe and Mena in November 2022 and head of regional markets in May 2023.

With a regulatory background, Teng began his career at the Monetary Authority of Singapore in 1994 and later joined the Singapore Exchange as chief regulatory officer in 2007. In March 2015, he became the CEO of Abu Dhabi Global Market.

Teng is notable for remaining with Binance amid regulatory challenges that led to the departure of other senior executives. Despite the US SEC filing charges against Binance and its founder, Teng expressed confidence in the company's foundations, emphasizing financial strength, security, and safety in a LinkedIn post.

Binance, founded in 2017, maintains its status as the world's largest crypto exchange with approximately 150 million users.
