Luca Netz said, “Pudgy Penguins recently paid millions of dollars in licensing royalties to Pudgy Penguins NFT holders who licensed the IP, and more Pudgy Penguins licenses will be obtained later. We hope to become the first franchise IP in the Web3 field and will become the next IP like Hello Kitty and Pokemon.”
Just at the end of last month, Pudgy Penguins released the IP licensing platform OverpassIP, which supports large-scale, transparent, on-chain authorization of IP holders. This also marks an important step for Pudgy Penguins in promoting NFT authorization and materialization.

Foresight News: Could you give us a rough idea of Pudgy Penguins’ income and expenditure?
Luca Netz: We had $10 million in the bank after we completed our seed round last year, and we have over $10 million in the bank now, and we just delivered $10 million in retail sales, and in terms of expenses, we are spending $400,000 to $500,000 a month, and I think we are doing a good job in terms of revenue and expenses.
Foresight News: What plans and ideas do you have for the future of Pudgy Penguins and what are your personal goals for 2024?
Luca Netz: I hope Pudgy Penguins will become the first franchise IP in the Web3 space, the next Hello Kitty, the next Pokemon. It takes a long time to build a brand like Pokemon or Disney, but I think we can go viral and quickly break through the mainstream market. I hope that by the end of this year, the mainstream market will really recognize us.
Foresight News: After Pudgy Penguins’ success in attracting attention, it is expected that some other NFT projects will explore the toy and licensing route. Do you think this is replicable?
Luca Netz: I do think a lot of other NFT projects will try to copy, but the difference is that we have the most lovable, unique characters and have the strongest community.
Foresight News: Is it possible for Pudgy Penguins to issue tokens?
In response to this question, Luca Netz gave a vague answer, saying, "We will always do what is in the best interests of the community and have been practicing this principle. I made a promise to them a long time ago and I plan to fulfill that promise, so this is the only answer I can give you." Luca Netz responded three times in a row to the possibility of issuing tokens, saying "no comment".

Luca Netz: I think so. The Pudgy Penguins community is made up of some of the most important builders in cryptocurrency, many of whom are diamond hands and early adopters of cryptocurrency. Luca Netz: I think the NFT craze will explode again in the next 6 to 12 months. The digital collectibles market has a lot of room for development. It currently only accounts for 1% of the collectibles market (physical collectibles account for 99%). For NFT investors, now is a very good opportunity and they need to actively pay attention to and participate in the development of the market.
