In an announcement from the Worldcoin project on February 9, 2024 as part of the Unique privacy technology for use in the Worldcoin ecosystem. More than 1,000 applications were submitted for Worldcoin's Wave0 Grant.

In a clip from the X domain, Aaron from the XX Foundation explains how XX will add value to Worldcoin with this work:

More than three people have signed up for the Worldcoin network, which involves physical interaction with a piece of hardware known as an 'Orb'. This sphere scans people's eyes and produces special "iris codes" derived from the tissue of the iris.

While the transmission, storage and use of these iris codes is not directly tied to a human identity, it is still a thermal isolation due to the understanding that a company is handling their data and potentially misusing or actually tracking such traffic through the network.

The work of the XX Network is to promote cMixx+, which enables the advancement of the identity (through the "World ID" applications) for registration (the iris transmitting sphere) in a way that no one, not even the Worldcoin, will receive it when and when. There is no new user registration, nor is there a user verifying or potentially updating any information regarding that registration.

Much in the crypto world was skeptical when Worldcoin announced its original project plans, but it began to detail how far it would go on privacy to prevent the data they capture from being split. It's a natural opportunity for the XX Network (which has a pedigree of cryptographers, including founder David Chaum) to lead the charge to further improve user privacy for Worldcoin
