What are inscriptions?
In the ever-evolving world of blockchain, an exciting new concept has emerged: tokens.
The concept of inscriptions originated with Bitcoin's ordinal inscriptions. Because the Bitcoin network doesn't support smart contracts, it couldn't directly transact with NFTs — or similar tokens.
But with the innovation of engraving, developers found a way to engrave data onto individual satoshis (the smallest unit of Bitcoin). This has opened new horizons for creating digital assets on the blockchain that were not originally designed for it.
Patterns can include various types of data, such as text and images, unlike traditional entries to the Bitcoin blockchain, which include transaction data. It is immutable, meaning that once written, it cannot be changed or deleted, ensuring its permanence and security.
