🤔German police confiscated 50K BTC as part of an investigation into a website running pirated content
German police have seized nearly 50,000 BTC ($2.17 billion) as part of investigations into pirate websites in January 2024.
Specifically, the case was against piracy portal Movie2K, whose founders used their profits to buy bitcoins until 2013.
To date, this is the largest seizure of cryptocurrency by German law enforcement authorities.
