The Stellar team called for a protocol update to be delayed due to a bug
The Stellar Development Foundation (SDF) has proposed postponing the network update vote scheduled for January 30 due to a bug discovered in the Stellar Core v20.1.0 release.
“Based on feedback from the ecosystem, we have decided to neutralize our validators to support postponing the January 30 Protocol 2 vote until a bug fix, which is already in development, becomes available,” the statement said.
The SDF said the vulnerability poses a “low risk” given the phased rollout. The new version of the protocol activates the Soroban smart contract platform on the mainnet. The vulnerability may affect applications and services that use it for transactions, the developers acknowledged.
