Since November, Russia began supplying electricity to Abkhazia on a commercial basis. Against this background, the operational headquarters to combat cryptocurrency mining has resumed work in Sukhum, local media reports.

The head of the capital, Beslan, Eshba stressed that the authorities will tighten their approach to the illegal extraction of digital assets - the equipment will not only be confiscated, but also immediately disposed of.

According to the head of the Internal Affairs Directorate for Sukhum, Astamur Khagush, the fight against mining did not stop.

In total, 1,112 apartments, 712 households, and 405 basements were subject to inspections.

The head of the Energosbyt department of SUES, Dzhambulat Arshba, noted that the number of electricity consumption meters by the end of the year will be about 13,000.

This will allow reaching over 50% of subscribers, the specialist specified.

Let us remind you that in 2022, the territory’s authorities approved special tariffs for miners, despite the current ban on cryptocurrency mining.
