According to the Daily Planet, in November 2022, Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele announced a national dollar cost averaging (DCA) plan, promising to buy 1 Bitcoin every day. According to Bukele's public statements, the country already has 2,381 Bitcoins, with an average price of about $44,300. At the time, the price was only $19,000, and the asset loss was about $60 million. Since then, Bukele has remained silent about the purchase, and there are no public government records, and the exact number of Bitcoins in the country is unclear.

Assuming that 1 bitcoin was purchased every day for the past year, Coindesk estimates that as of November 14, El Salvador held 2,744 bitcoins. Based on the median BTC price, the average purchase price is about $41,800. At the current bitcoin price, El Salvador has lost about $16 million.
