According to Cointelegraph, the Bitcoin community in North Carolina is preparing a convoy of emergency doctors, volunteers and retired military personnel to provide critical assistance to the state's mountainous areas. The operation will begin in the Greensboro area on October 4, and the 12-person team will be equipped with six full-size trucks, multiple multi-purpose task vehicles, four trailers, a horse and a mule. Chain saws and medical supplies will also be used to clear roads and search for missing persons. The convoy is organized by the North Carolina Blockchain Initiative, the Bitcoin Mining Museum and HM Tech. The rescue operation will cover the Appalachian Mountains in western North Carolina, including the hard-hit Ashe County. The Bitcoin community will also focus on neglected communities that have received little state or federal support and remain isolated from life-saving supplies. Residents are isolated and have no power supply. The Bitcoin community accepts Bitcoin (BTC) and fiat currency donations to support the convoy's mission. According to the New York Post, Hurricane Helene has killed at least 189 people in seven states, and the death toll is expected to rise.
