Payments giant Worldpay Inc. plans to directly participate in the process of verifying blockchain transactions for the first time to better understand how the digital ledger works, BlockBeats reported on September 26.

Sanchit Mall, Worldpay’s head of Web3 and crypto for Asia Pacific, said the payments provider, which supports more than 1 million merchants globally, is in discussions with selected blockchains to become a validator.

Mall said it has processed $1.3 billion worth of payments using stablecoins so far this year, compared with less than $1 billion in 2023.
