According to WuSay, eight doctors specializing in the field of neurodivergence said in an amicus brief supporting Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), who has been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), that the court and jury may have misunderstood SBF's behavior during his criminal trial.

Several decisions went against SBF, doctors said, particularly a Manhattan district court ruling that allowed government prosecutors to cross-examine SBF without a jury, and the judge repeatedly criticized SBF for his lengthy answers and his attempts to clarify or rephrase questions.

The doctors said these traits were typical of people with autism spectrum disorder, who tend to interpret language literally. In addition, the doctors mentioned that the judge's criticism, which led SBF to change his answers in front of the jury, might have been an "overcorrection."
