According to Odaily Planet Daily, Brightband, a startup founded by former Google executives, received US$10 million in Series A financing led by Prelude Ventures, with participation from Bain Capital's Future Back Ventures and Slack co-founder Carl Henderson.

Brightband was launched this summer by former Google executive Julian Green and three scientists to develop paid products and open-source AI forecasting models trained on raw weather observations.

Brightband co-founder Amy McGovern, a professor at the University of Oklahoma, said the company will focus on predicting extreme weather behavior, including heat waves and tropical cyclones, days ahead of traditional forecasts.
