Earlier news, U.S. retail sales unexpectedly rose in August, suggesting that the U.S. economy remained on a solid footing for most of the third quarter.
Data showed that U.S. retail sales rose 0.1% month-on-month in August, following an upwardly revised 1.1% in July.
