According to BlockBeats, on September 17, Farcaster founder Dan Romero responded to questions about the $5 joining fee at the FarCon Asia event.

Dan Romero said that free membership would lead to spam and affect system stability. The fee is set to prevent the system from crashing.

He mentioned that one way to combat spam is to create a high-trust user community and possibly lower the fee to $4.

FarCon Asia is jointly organized by Tako Protocol, BlockBeats and Jam, and is expected to attract more than 500 attendees to showcase the innovative achievements of the Farcaster ecosystem and the future prospects of Web3 social.
