According to Odaily Planet Daily, Steven Goldfeder, co-founder of Arbitrum development company OffChain Labs, said that in the early days of building Arbitrum, he almost accepted funding from another major ecosystem to build Arbitrum on that ecosystem.
Steven added that while there is access to significant early funding, it could be a distraction from plans to deploy Ethereum. If the funding had been accepted, there would have been more money in the bank in 2019, but Offchain or Arbitrum would not be where they are today.
He also noted that it was not surprising that other ecosystems offered larger grants, as deployment costs were higher and larger grants were needed to compensate.
