According to TechFlow, according to the latest data from HODL15Capital, as of September 1, 2024, Eastern Time, BlackRock's IBIT has become the world's largest institutional Bitcoin holder, holding 357,509 Bitcoins.

MicroStrategy surpassed Grayscale's GBTC (225,671) with 226,500 bitcoins held, jumping into second place.

Fidelity’s FBTC ETF ranked fourth with 178,349 bitcoins, and stablecoin giant Tether ranked fifth with 75,354 bitcoins.

Other major institutional holders include ARK Invest/21 Shares’ ARKB (37,147) and bitcoin mining company Marathon Digital (25,000). MicroStrategy, which announced its transformation into a “bitcoin development company” earlier this year, was the largest known institutional holder of bitcoin before the advent of an ETF.
