According to Song Shanshan, head of the Internet prosecution team of the Xuhui District Procuratorate, the number of criminal cases involving virtual currency has increased overall in the past three years, with a clear trend of gang crimes and a high amount of money involved.

For example, the country's first case of illegally obtaining digital wallet private keys involved three criminals including Liu Moumou, who illegally obtained 27,622 mnemonics and 10,203 digital wallet private keys. They were all sentenced to three years in prison and fined 30,000 yuan.
