Telegram CEO Pavel Durov will appear before French judge Paul Faure to decide whether to be formally charged for allegedly facilitating illegal activity on his platform, PANews reported.
Judge Faure said the case was not only about individuals, but also about the responsibilities that technology companies should bear. Durov could face up to 20 years in prison.
The case is likely to become the focus of a major global discussion about digital rights and corporate responsibility, and could set a landmark precedent for content moderation responsibilities.
