According to TechFlow, on August 26, the Financial Times reported that the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) released a study showing that cryptocurrency tax evasion is widespread in Norway.

The study, which analyzed tax filings, cryptocurrency exchange data and questionnaires, found that about 88% of Norwegian cryptocurrency holders did not declare their assets to the tax authorities.

The study estimates that about 6% of the Norwegian population evades taxes using cryptocurrencies, with the majority being young, male, and urban residents. While the average amount of tax evasion by an individual ranges from $200 to $1,087, the overall scale is significant.
